Fabiano graduated in Agronomy (1995), obtained his Master Degree (Soil Science and Plant Nutrition) in 1999 at the Federal University of Viçosa (UFV), and the PhD degree (2002) at the Rural Federal University of Rio de Janeiro (UFRRJ, Soil Science). His thesis evaluated carbon and nitrogen dynamics in planted forest. From 2003 to 2005 he was a Lecturer at the Environmental Management Course of FAETEC (Fundação de Amparo a Escola Técnica) and a Visiting Researcher/Scientist at the Rio de Janeiro State Agricultural Research Corporation (PESAGRO-RIO). From 2005 to 2007 he was a Postdoctoral Fellow at UFRRJ, developing research and teaching in the areas of C and N dynamics in agroecosystems. Currently he is a researcher at at the Brazilian Agricultural Research Corporation (Embrapa), and based at the National Centre for Soil Research (Embrapa Soils), working in the areas of nutrient cycling with an emphasis in forestry, soil organic matter and soil ecology.
