Graduate studies in the fields of agronomy, land resource management and applied remote sensing. In 1992 detached to Toulouse, France for "Action IV" of the EU MARS programme for "Rapid Estimates of Acreage and Potential Yield at European Level". The multi-national project provided statistics on European crop surface cover and production of major agricultural products by using multi-temporal satellite images and statistical methods.

Since 1996 at the European Commission Joint Research Centre, Ispra. Initially for the quality control of data from the activity “Controls with Remote Sensing for Area-based Subsidies”. Later development of spatial reference data for assessment of environmental conditions in European catchments and integrated spatial and geo-statistical analyses with direct support to EU Directives.
