Biography

Sabine Wichmann is a research associate at the Institute of Botany and Landscape Ecology, University of Greifswald, Germany and the scientific non-profit association "Institute of sustainable development of landscapes of the earth" (DUENE e.V.). She holds a diploma in landscape ecology and nature conservation with major in landscape economics (2004, University of Greifswald). Her main area of research is paludiculture, i. e. land use options for wet and rewetted peatlands (fens and bogs). Focus is on suitable harvesting machinery, processing avenues for different plants (e.g. bio-energy, construction/insulation material, horticultural growing media), economic assessment of cost and revenues on farm-level, valuation of ecosystem services, agricultural policy, agri-environmental schemes and other economic incentives.
